estate plan. A rapt audience listened to Dr.
Anderson articulate a compelling argument
for supporting the Foundation.
It was great to see the mix of new practitio-
ners and seasoned ASHP members supporting
the Foundation. Johns Hopkins University and
Duke University residency classes provided
gifts with contributions from every member of
their classes. The Foundation benefited from
two corporate sponsors, Novo Nordisk and BD
Medical, through booth drives that contributed
unrestricted matching support.
The Foundation’s annual Corporate Benefit
Dinner was held for the Pharmacy Resi-
dency Expansion Grant Program and raised
$165,000 from the following Table Spon-
sors: Actavis, Inc.; Baxter International Inc.;
Cardinal Health; Hospira Worldwide, Inc.;
Mylan; Omnicell, Inc.; Par Pharmaceutical,
Inc.; PharMEDium; Roxane Laboratories;
Samson Medical Technologies; and Visante,
Inc. Proceeds from the dinner, combined
with gifts in memory of Janet Teeters totaling
$36,900, are essential to providing residency
grants in 2015 and beyond.
“We are very grateful to the outpouring of
support from ASHP members and the corpo-
rate community,” Allen said. “The ASHP Foun-
dation is looking forward to another great year
of making significant strides in patient safety
and supporting pharmacists as vital members
of the healthcare team, accountable for safe and
effective medication use.”

JHPR
Becomes
AJHP Residents Edition
A
SHP has acquired the
Journal
of Health-System Pharmacy
Residents (JHPR),
a well-known
and respected digital journal
for pharmacy residents.
Launched in June 2012 by then phar-
macy residents Bryan C. McCarthy, Jr.,
and David Reardon, the quarterly
JHPR
has attracted a large and loyal reader-
ship. McCarthy and Reardon began the
publication to provide more opportunities
for pharmacy residents to present their
research and contribute to advancing
pharmacy practice.
“This acquisition is perfectly in line with
ASHP’s long history of being the home for
pharmacy residents and supporting their
practice, research, and other scholarly
endeavors,” said Paul W. Abramowitz,
ASHP’s chief executive officer, adding that
residents are the profession’s future.
As part of that support, ASHP encour-
ages residents to publish residency project
manuscripts, medication-use evaluations,
results from research studies, and case
reports.
AJHP
welcomes future expanded
engagement in the journal among resi-
dents, residency program directors, and
preceptors.
“We are very happy to be able to offer
this important publishing avenue to phar-
macy residents,” said Carol Wolfe, ASHP’s
vice president of publications and drug in-
formation systems. “This acquisition vastly
expands the opportunities for residents to
share their knowledge and gain the kind
of exposure that is important in building a
new career. At the same time, it adds to the
existing pharmacy literature in a ground-
breaking and exciting way.”
JHPR
will continue as
AJHP Residents
Edition,
a quarterly online supplement to
AJHP
, hosted with the journal on HighWire
Press. Access will mirror that of
AJHP.
Abstracts of
JHPR
articles will be open-
access, while full-text access will be limited
to members and subscribers.
McCarthy and Reardon will continue in
advisory roles to
JHPR
,
serving as
AJHP
contributing editors.

Clinical Meeting had the opportunity to

JHPR
and
AJHP
leaders during
the Residents Meetup.
The first edition of
AJHP Residents Edition
is
due out this summer.
