148 Leadership and direction for many of the committees by reorganizing them in a manner that increased communication and member engagement, improved efficiency, and clarified the goals in synergy with the board’s strategic vision. For example, the KLA (Knowledge, Learning, and Assessment) Advisory Committee provided the opportunity for all the educational committees to discuss, plan, and cooperate on the goals and visions for ACOFP education. Dr. DeLuca’s first time seeing Bob in action with the membership and leadership was at the 2019 ACOFP Annual Convention in Chicago. Bob was amazing in his abilities to organize, manage, and direct the daily activities, but his real personality came out on the dance floor during Dr. DeLuca’s presidential party. The evening had an awesome DJ to keep people at the party, and again, Bob kept the evening going as he danced to pretty much every song. Bob continued through the year reorganizing the staff, hiring directors, evaluating ACOFP’s governance, and challenging the staff, leaders, and members to make ACOFP the home of family medicine. Bob was instrumental in bringing groups together, including the other specialty colleges. He was able to represent ACOFP in multiple negotiations with AOA, AAFP, the Endocrine Society, and other organizations, which opened many opportunities for ACOFP members. In March 2020, however, his management skills were put to the test. The COVID-19 pandemic hit the country, and it was decided that ACOFP would cancel its 2020 Annual Convention in New Orleans, Louisiana.
