130 Leadership Dr. Zieren works as a preceptor with at least one medical student each month, training students from Midwestern University for several years. The Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine is now sending students able to participate in an office rotation. Before Phoenix General Hospital became part of the John C. Lincoln Health Network, Dr. Zieren served as its chief of staff and as chair of a wide variety of medical staff committees. She currently serves as chair of the Family Practice Committee of the medical staff at John C. Lincoln Hospital– North Mountain. She has been an aviation medical examiner for the Federal Aviation Administration and presently is physician advisor to Nightingale Nurses Home Health. 2010–2011 KENNETH A. HEILES, DO, FACOFP dist. Star City, Arkansas Dr. Heiles earned an undergraduate degree in chemistry from St. Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, and received his osteopathic medical degree in 1984 from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Heiles was elected to the ACOFP Board of Governors in 2003, and has served in the offices of governor, vice president, and president-elect. He has contributed to ACOFP governance as a delegate in the ACOFP Congress of Delegates and as a member of multiple committees addressing postgraduate training, convention programming, practice management, and advocacy. He earned his ACOFP Fellow designation in 1993 and his Distinguished Fellow designation in 2007. His current practice in Star City, Arkansas, includes both osteopathic family medicine and emergency medicine. He also serves as director of osteopathic medical education at AHEC Pine Bluff, and he served as residency program director in past years. Dr. Heiles and his wife, Michelle, live in Star City, Arkansas. Their family members include Jared, Holli, Alex, Megan, Mistie and her husband Hunter, and grandson Addison. Ken enjoys all sports, especially hockey when his Pittsburgh Penguins are on the ice. 2011–2012 GEORGE T. SAWABINI, DO, FACOFP dist. Dearborn, Michigan Dr. Sawabini earned a bachelor of science degree from the University of Oklahoma and received his DO from the Kansas City University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He served his internship at Art Centre Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. He earned his ACOFP Fellow designation in 2000 and his Distinguished Fellow designation in 2010. Dr. Sawabini was elected to the ACOFP Board of Governors in 2001 and has also served as a delegate to the ACOFP Congress of Delegates and on multiple committees addressing issues such as residency program development, finance, and osteopathic principles and practices. Dr. Sawabini was assistant director of the Osteopathic Family Medicine Residency Program at St. John Hospital in Southfield, Michigan, where he also served as an osteopathic preceptor. When not practicing family medicine or teaching, Dr. Sawabini enjoys spending time with his family.
