ACOFP: OUR CONTINUING HISTORY 129 Leadership of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine, and the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Rubin served as chair of the Physician Advisory Board of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-School of Osteopathic Medicine. He also was the recipient of the Mentor Hall of Fame Award in 2004, awarded by AOA for his commitment to educating and mentoring students, interns, residents, and physicians. Dr. Rubin also served as a police physician for the state of New Jersey for more than 20 years and has been awarded the honor of membership in the Honor Legion of the Police Departments of the state of New Jersey for his commitment and dedication to law enforcement. Dr. Rubin and his wife, Roni, reside in Paramus, New Jersey, with their two daughters, Simone and Whitney. 2008–2009 RONNIE B. MARTIN, DO, FACOFP dist. Parker, Colorado A board-certified family physician, Dr. Martin is a 1974 graduate of Southwestern Oklahoma University College of Pharmacy and a 1979 graduate of the Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his postgraduate training through a rural consortium at Enid Regional Hospital and the Tulsa Regional Medical Center. Dr. Martin enjoyed his full spectrum family medicine and clinical education practice in Enid, Oklahoma, for 19 years, and in Tulsa, Oklahoma, for two years before leaving active practice in 1999 to pursue a full-time career in medical education. He assumed the position as chair of the department of Family Medicine at Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Des Moines, Iowa. He later became chair of the department of Family Medicine at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in 2001, and was promoted to associate dean for Medical Education in 2003. Dr. Martin served as chief executive officer and chief academic officer/dean of Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine located in Denver, Colorado, during its inaugural 2008–2009 academic year. 2009–2010 JAN D. ZIEREN, DO, FACOFP dist. Phoenix, Arizona Dr. Zieren, a board-certified family practitioner who was designated a fellow in 1993, has extensive experience in medical leadership, regulation, and policy development. Dr. Zieren earned her master’s degree in public health at the University of Oklahoma and her medical degree at Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her postgraduate medical training at Phoenix General Hospital and has been in family practice in Phoenix since 1982. Her accomplishments can be summed up with the following two words: committed leadership. A current board member of the Arizona Osteopathic Medical Association, Dr. Zieren is a former member of the Arizona Board of Osteopathic Examiners, the state agency that regulates osteopathic physicians. She also serves as president-elect for the Arizona Society of ACOFP and as a state delegate to AOA.
